I first got my first crossed hammers badge some ten years ago it was from the polish club called Gornik Zabrze! I was stunned to see that it had a pair of crossed hammers on like our club West Ham United FC!

I had to find out more about this club! straight away. I sent a letter of to my very good friend Romuald in Poland! To him it was nothing, there was loads of clubs in Poland with the crossed hammers on there badge!

To me it was amazing to see this we are not alone! In fact, I would go as far to say that it must be the most popular badge in the world! When I started researching I never new what a can of worms I was opening!

I now have the famous crossed hammers badges from over twenty countries in the world and I still get a thrill when I get a new club just like I did some ten years ago.

I found out that the crossed hammers badges are from mining clubs hence the crossed hammers also that some come from ship builders just like from our roots at the Thames Ironworks where our crossed irons / hammers was used to bang in the rivets.

Some things that you might see on polish badges are as follows the words gks this denotes that the club comes from a mining club. Also, the word lat which means years.

The polish love to have badges that commemorate different years of the club. Today, I have done two clubs for you they are Gornik Zabrze and GKS Belchatow.

The battle of the hammers! when they play each other!

So let me tell you a bit about these two famous clubs!

First Gornik Zabrze.
